Friday March 24, 2023 Update

Some more rain and work on freeway left things a little quiet this week around Carlsbad Village. Today, the sun is shining and it is a lovely Friday!

We have been working on repairing damaged glass and crystal items by smoothing down rough parts, grinding down rims in chipped glasses to give them smooth edges again, and using our UV curing glass adhesive to but pieces back together. When something is important to you, it’s nice to have it in one piece even if it shows some little battle scars! Check out our repair page here to see some of our work and follow us on social media at the bottom of the page to see even more!

Before and after:

Friday March 11, 2022 Update

Repairing glass items with UV curing adhesive is one of the ways we can help put keepsakes back together. We spend time to carefully layout the “puzzle” and put any available pieces back together. The look of the cracks may lesson, and some fine ones may even disappear into the repair.

Below we have a before and after of one of our repairs along with a gallery below of our finished repairs!

Friday June 11, 2021 Update

This pandemic has created some intense problems, and we do feel like things are getting better, but it is unusual how things have been affected. Think back to the flour shortage - there was plenty of flour, just not enough paper bags! Recently there is a lumber shortage which affects buildings and how things are shipped. Many things are packed into large wooden crates, but without the lumber man items that are shipped in bulk are not being shipped. This has affected many items, seeming at random, because of what stock is still available and if these items can be shipped but at a slower pace. Even the glass industry has been affected with slower shipping speeds to get items.

We have been able to still provide our clients with their glass needs, trying to avoid a slow down in getting projects done. Having a backlog can be frustrating for everyone, but we work hard to do everything we can to get everything accomplished. We are glad to have clients that are patient and understanding with things beyond our control. The project will be completed!

So thank you all for working with us! Because of you, we have many amazing glass, mirror, and crystal projects to create, repair, and improve for our fantastic clients!

Friday March 5, 2021 Update

Hello all! It’s been another pleasant week in Carlsbad Village and things are feeling more positive every day. We at the Shoppe have been helping our great clients with their repairs, replacements, and other glass and mirror needs. One we see many of is our Crystal Rim Chip Repair service. This is the repair for glasses and other glass items that have a chip on the rim or base. We can polish just past the chip and the smooth the rim to match. Now there is no longer a sharp chip and the item is useable again!

Friday September 11, 2020 Update

It is a somber day for remembrance. There is a lot going on for everyone (too much for many), and we are all trying to do the best that we can. Much has changed from 19 years ago, and much is changing in 2020. We wish for everyone to be kind to each other, help others when you can, and try to make the best of the situation. It is easier said then done, but we need to keep moving forward.

In more regular Shoppe news, we managed to work through our large amount of glass and crystal repairs. They are still coming in and we are shipping many out to our long distance clients! We have had more of an influx of cabinet doors as well, including some all glass ones. Our cabinet doors usually are glass inserts that we put in the center of your door. This can be stained glass overlay, a textured glass, colored glass, or other glass options. Check out our cabinet door section here!

Friday August 28, 2020 Update

We have mentioned a lot about the crystal and glass repairs we have been doing, but it’s worth mentioning how many of these items are shipped to us to be repaired! We have clients from many different states that find out what we do and send us the item for further review and repair. While we cannot manufacture glass for these repairs, we have a UV curing adhesive to put broken pieces back together. It dries clear and does not yellow while helping soften the look of the cracks. In the case of chipped rims and bases, we sand and smooth just past the chip leaving a smooth surface. Clients can email (GlassAndMirror@iCloud.com) or text [(760)390-2273] us photos of their broken items and we can give them an estimate on the repair cost and if it can be done! We’re glad we can help our clients and they are finding us from across the country.

We are still keeping with the current protocol and Carlsbad itself has an online resource for what is open and what requirements there are during Covid-19. Check it out here: https://www.carlsbadca.gov/services/depts/fire/emergency/coronavirus.asp

Stay safe (and COOL!) and have a wonderful weekend!

Our Commercial is Here!

We have our wonderful video spotlight shining on us thanks to the work of Trevor from Fly By Photography (@FlyByPhotograph) and the team! See our cozy studio in the gorgeous Carlsbad Village and learn a little more about all that we do. It was a unique experience to try a spot of “acting” while showing some things we usually do. Without further ado, Glass and Mirror Shoppe:

Filming was done before the virus, as you may of guess, but do not worry, we are social distancing, wearing masks, and cleaning!

Friday July 10, 2020 Update

Things are tough still for everyone as businneses around us had to reduce how they can serve their customers. Carlsbad is trying to work out how to help its locals, so we shall see what they can do. For now we must all support each other in staying safe, wearing your mask, social distancing, and shopping from local businesses more remotely (online, over the phone, etc.)

Since last week, we have had more and more stained glass repairs show up. These pieces have been passed down generations, been purchased from a different country, or even came with the home! There is always a back story, and we enjoy restoring these pieces. Matching glass as much as possible, soldering weak areas, properly cleaning the pieces, and reinforcing them are some of the services we do for our clients stained glass. We have even made matching pieces to go with one our clients had.

We are able to stay open because of the industry we are in while also following all guidelines. Masks, sanitizer, and very frequent cleanings are our lives now. But we are here because windows break, showers need glass, and as a small business we need the support of our clients. This has made it the perfect time for repairing those heirlooms because more people are staying home and can see these items need some love.

So a big thank you to our clients for working with us and having the patience as we tackle new issues brought on by the pandemic.

It is pleasant to see those in our community supporting the village and following guidelines. Thank you and continue being kind!

Friday June 19, 2020 Update

Summer is almost upon us, we have the longest day of the year to look forward to! Hopefully it is a productive one!

It has been difficult on everyone, but we still need to work together to keep everyone safe as we are still working through this pandemic. In fact, we are still here working to make ends meet as many are. Our wonderful clients are helping keep our spirits up with new windows, shower doors, crystal repair, and even some custom dividers in restaurants. Might as well be safe and decorative! We will share more of that when the job is complete!

Also, be sure to follow us on our social media accounts (found at the bottom of the page) for more photos, information, and current going-ons!

PS: Starting Thursday June 25, 2020 parking in the village will be limited to three hours on many streets. Watch out for signs explaining the rules while visiting Carlsbad Village!
