From a sharp shard to a restored vase! Thankfully there was only two pieces to put back together in this clear vase and we were able to do it! Using our UV curing adhesive, this vase is back together and ready for a beautiful bouquet!
We repaired this Vaseline Glass candlestick holder after cleaning it up and putting the pieces back together using our UV curing adhesive. Vaseline glass is a type of Uranium glass with a yellow color to it. Uranium was added to glass as a colorant and can give it a yellow to green tint. It even fluoresces bright green under UV light! This piece is from the 1870’s , but it wasn’t until the 1920’s that the name Vaseline Glass gained popularity. It is used for the uranium glass with a yellow tint, but has also been known to be used as a name for any glass with a yellow coloring and not solely based on it containing uranium. These pieces are actually a little radioactive, although it is considered harmless do to it being trace amounts. It would even take a sensitive geiger counter to pick it up!
