Friday April 21, 2023 Update - Cabinet Doors

Cabinet doors with Seedy Swirl Glass inserts with lead lines on them

Adding art glass such as Textured Glass, Stained Glass Overlay, or Leadlite is a great solution to upgrading your cabinet doors. We have different types of textured glass with different levels of obscurities and can design our stained glass overlay or leadlite with the level of privacy that you need.

Sliding Cabinet Doors with a traditional early 1900’s style lead lines

And don’t think this is limited to cabinet doors - windows, indoor and exterior doors, furniture tops, shower glass, and mirrors are some of the other things that can be upgraded with our art glass. We can even create designs that match or flow across these different types of glass.

Cabinets hold anywhere from items we use everyday to, to things for special occasions, to heirlooms that we keep safe behind those cabinet doors.

Choose from our selection of Texture and Privacy Glass, or work with our designers to create something that fits your style. We can match other elements in the home, create outdoor scenes, use traditional designs, and more! Friday March 3, 2023 Update

Happy March everyone! We have had lots of rain but we’re given a nice break last Sunday for Oak Gallery’s One year Anniversary and Artist Reception. It was a ton of fun and people went home with a lot of great art! Plus, owner Penny even has a section where you can purchase her photos and greeting cards at Oak Gallery.

Now, we “March” towards Spring and another season of being creative.

Many clients are interested in adding art glass to their home, and we have been doing a lot of designing and creating (and more designing which will lead to more creating!) Art glass is great for mirrors, windows, doors, cabinet doors, shower glass, and more. We even have panels like the bird of paradise that with some chain are ready to hang in front of your window. Come check them out, they are next to our sliding glass door. More will be added, so be sure to check back and follow us on our social media (found below)

Friday June 10, 2022 Update

This week we finished one of our most loved panels to work on recently! There was a lot of detail and creativity in this underwater scene. It features bright colors, textures, glass eyes, glass dots, and glass crystals for a beautiful pair of doors! Art glass overlay is a labor of love filled with creativity and dedication. Check out the photos of our latest project and get inspired for your own art glass ❤

Friday June 3, 2022 Update

June has just started and many are getting ready to graduate! It’s a big month right before Summer break (or summer job!) So here’s to new adventures and lets hope sometimes those adventures take you to the beach. We have, however, been enjoying the cool weather from our June gloom, but know the sun is coming!

We’ve been working at the Shoppe and creating lots of custom glass and mirror for our clients. So many things are unique sizes and we are here to provide glass for them in a time where there is no longer the “standard size”. But, while we are customizing glass, why not try for something a little different from the standard clear? We have great textured and privacy glass options that can be used as windows, shower doors, or table tops. Or get a custom design created for you with single stage sandblasted glass. It can even be done on mirrors for a creative looking glass! Plus, we can create traditional stained glass and art glass overlay pieces for a different type of art glass that can also feature colors and bevels. Our designers are here to work with you to create your perfect, custom glass! Contact us today with what you are looking for!

Also, tomorrow is an amazing artist demo at Oak Gallery!

“In this presentation, Diana Shay Diehl will give a brief history of encaustic painting as she demonstrates some basic techniques in using encaustic medium to alter and enhance her photographic work. She will discuss substrates, tools, and important information regarding the safe handling of 150-200 degree melted materials and potentially toxic pigments. Participants should come away with a basic understanding and deeper appreciation of how to view encaustic works.

  • Encaustic, meaning “to burn in or fuse”, is an ancient painting medium first practiced by Greek artists as far back as the 5th century B.C. Its base is a natural beeswax with damar resins added to give it resiliency. Today, this technique in painting and preservation is gaining popularity again.”

Find out more information and register to join the class here. It’s free, but space is limited!

Friday April 8, 2022 Update

It has been a great week that was really feeling like Spring. Or at least as much as it can in Southern California because it ended feeling like Summer! So we hope everyone is staying cool today and wearing plenty of sunblock

Below we’re sharing an art glass overlay multi window piece we did for our client in a place of worship. The flowing lines radiate from the center in very warm colors (perfect for today!)

It really evokes a feeling of rising and glowing. When the sun lights up glass, it is even more beautiful!

Work with our designers in creating your perfect art glass overlay piece. They can flowing like this, geometric, places, hobbies, animals, plants, and more. Every design is custom made for a unique piece that our clients love for years to come. It is so much more meaningful to have a design that was create for you, and we love providing that perfect art touch!

Friday January 28, 2022 Update

The first month of 2022 is almost wrapped up! We are happy to be able to be creative even though things are still a challenge as they have been since 2020. Our focus is to be safe and stay positive to the benefit of our crew and clients.

This week we have been working on creating art glass with stained glass overlay. Look out for our posts and this blog to see what we do with these special projects!

And if you are looking for art glass of your own, you can check out the Art glass tab and see some examples of what we have done. Click here to see our Art Glass Windows Page or here to see our Sandblasted Glass Page. All of our work is custom and tailored to our clients needs.

Friday January 21, 2022 Update

It has been another week of creating with cool and cloudy weather and even a bit of rain! We have been working on art glass and furniture tops this week.

We are creating an underwater scene with plants and creatures for a pair of doors. with the design going from one door to the next. We really enjoy working with our clients to design and create glass that they will enjoy for years to come! You can see some of our work here in our Before and After Gallery page as well as checking out everything in the Art Glass tab above!

And if you need glass tabletops or furniture protectors, you can check out their page here. Glass is great for protecting the tops of furniture from damage, is easier to clean, and you don’t have to use a coaster if you don’t want to! We use tempered glass, recommend at least a 1/4” thickness, and can have a Flat Polished or Pencil Polished edge.

Friday April 7, 2021 Update

It has been over a year, but in California we can go back to theme parks this month! We would love to make an art glass roller coaster themed panel - not something you see too often and our designers LOVE unusual and creative requests! For those curious, we have a lot of our art glass on this site, but you can check out Art Glass Overlay here and see our site dedicated to all the art glass we do! Get inspired, see our work, and let us know how we can add art glass to your life!

Art glass covers many things- not just stained glass, but also lead and bevel, cast glass, and sandblasted glass.

Stained glass and lead and bevel (or leadlight) are in the same realm as far as art glass goes and have many overlaps. We think of stained glass as colorful, but it can just feature clear glass and lead lines such as leadlight along with including clear bevels (as lead and bevel implies). Sometimes this is called clear stained glass. This overlap can be confusing, but just let us know what you are looking for and we can create something to match your needs.

Cast glass takes a super heated sheet of glass and presses it into a mold. The designs are pressed into the glass leaving their detailed depressions. We have options of repeating cast glass designs, or we can create custom scenes in clear glass. These make amazing doors for showers or offices.

Sandblasted glass is glass etched with a high powered blast of sand. There will be a frosted design with glass or mirror as the negative space or vise versa. These are great for logos or signs, family crests, floral designs, unusual designs, and more. Our designers work with our clients to create the designs that will be used for sandblasting, which means we can create anything that looks good as a silhouette on your glass or mirror.

Art glass is our designers passion and where owner Penny started in the glass world (35+ years of experience!) But don’t think our designs are stuck in the past - we pay homage to the classics, create modern works, create weird works, and create what our clients love in glass!
