Friday October 21, 2022 Update

This week we are talking about glass wind breaks and handrails. We use tempered glass with your choice of hardware color to create these glass walls. You can still enjoy the view while being shielded from the wind. Or to keep things from rolling off the sides of stairs!

These are custom cut to the size you need to fit your area or hand rail toppers. Plus, we can even create them with textured glass or art glass to add more design and as much privacy you would like. You can check out our Glass Hand rail and Wall page here for more information on what we do.

Contact us at the options below with dimensions needed and a photo of the area to get an estimate on your custom glass.

It is already the last Friday of August - time flies when you are working hard!

If you are looking for some fun this week, be sure to swing by and check out Oak Gallery this Sunday for their opening reception! Come see new, creative work, enjoy light refreshments, music, and bring home a new and unique piece of art! 12pm to 3pm

Check out the calendar of events for Oak Gallery here.

This week we had many of our clients needed table top glass. So if you need a table top or glass to protect the top of your furniture, we’re your place!

Whether it is for protecting your side table, dresser, coffee table, or is meant to be the actual table top such as an outdoor table - we can do it! We always recommend using tempered glass for its strength and have multiple color and textured options to choose from and can be seen here towards the bottom of the page. You can contact us at our email GlassAndMirror@Icloud.com with photos of what needs a glass top, some measurements (rough are okay!), if the corners need to be rounded, what kind of glass you would like, and what kind of edge work. Edge work an be seen at the bottom of our table top page here. We look forward to helping you out with your custom glass project!

Friday August 5, 2022

We are just into the first week of August and we are just watching this year fly by! Perfect time to enjoy the rest of our longer days on the beach.

So, inspired by summer (an occasionally enjoying air conditioning…) here is a wonderful palm tree and bird of paradise art glass window we did! It just creates a fantastic a view of the beach you may be just a little too inland to see. It is a lovely representation of the area adding more greenery and a touch of color when our clients look out there window. It was wonderful to work on this and we love how it turned out! Plus, it added a nice bit of privacy while still letting the sun come in.

Friday June 3, 2022 Update

June has just started and many are getting ready to graduate! It’s a big month right before Summer break (or summer job!) So here’s to new adventures and lets hope sometimes those adventures take you to the beach. We have, however, been enjoying the cool weather from our June gloom, but know the sun is coming!

We’ve been working at the Shoppe and creating lots of custom glass and mirror for our clients. So many things are unique sizes and we are here to provide glass for them in a time where there is no longer the “standard size”. But, while we are customizing glass, why not try for something a little different from the standard clear? We have great textured and privacy glass options that can be used as windows, shower doors, or table tops. Or get a custom design created for you with single stage sandblasted glass. It can even be done on mirrors for a creative looking glass! Plus, we can create traditional stained glass and art glass overlay pieces for a different type of art glass that can also feature colors and bevels. Our designers are here to work with you to create your perfect, custom glass! Contact us today with what you are looking for!

Also, tomorrow is an amazing artist demo at Oak Gallery!

“In this presentation, Diana Shay Diehl will give a brief history of encaustic painting as she demonstrates some basic techniques in using encaustic medium to alter and enhance her photographic work. She will discuss substrates, tools, and important information regarding the safe handling of 150-200 degree melted materials and potentially toxic pigments. Participants should come away with a basic understanding and deeper appreciation of how to view encaustic works.

  • Encaustic, meaning “to burn in or fuse”, is an ancient painting medium first practiced by Greek artists as far back as the 5th century B.C. Its base is a natural beeswax with damar resins added to give it resiliency. Today, this technique in painting and preservation is gaining popularity again.”

Find out more information and register to join the class here. It’s free, but space is limited!

Friday May 21, 2021 Update

Hello fans of the Glass and Mirror Shoppe and Art Glass Overlay! We shared this recently on our Facebook page, but Wikipedia has a fabulous read on the history glass - something humans have been creating for thousands of years! As lovers of history and glass, it is a fascinating read and you can learn things like when clear glass was created (as the first glass was not!). You can check out the page here: History of Glass

We have quite a history of our own with glass - owner Penny has 40 years of experience in it! This gives her and us a lot of knowledge and experience with all types of glass. This is part of why we are able to off glass for so many different things - windows, showers, repairs, wind breaks, and more. We want to stand by our “Excellence in Glass’ and work hard to keep our clients satisfied.

Feel free to contact us by call, text, or email for any questions or quotes. We can pick your brain while you pick ours on your glass or mirror project!
