Friday October 21, 2022 Update

This week we are talking about glass wind breaks and handrails. We use tempered glass with your choice of hardware color to create these glass walls. You can still enjoy the view while being shielded from the wind. Or to keep things from rolling off the sides of stairs!

These are custom cut to the size you need to fit your area or hand rail toppers. Plus, we can even create them with textured glass or art glass to add more design and as much privacy you would like. You can check out our Glass Hand rail and Wall page here for more information on what we do.

Contact us at the options below with dimensions needed and a photo of the area to get an estimate on your custom glass.

Friday June 3, 2022 Update

June has just started and many are getting ready to graduate! It’s a big month right before Summer break (or summer job!) So here’s to new adventures and lets hope sometimes those adventures take you to the beach. We have, however, been enjoying the cool weather from our June gloom, but know the sun is coming!

We’ve been working at the Shoppe and creating lots of custom glass and mirror for our clients. So many things are unique sizes and we are here to provide glass for them in a time where there is no longer the “standard size”. But, while we are customizing glass, why not try for something a little different from the standard clear? We have great textured and privacy glass options that can be used as windows, shower doors, or table tops. Or get a custom design created for you with single stage sandblasted glass. It can even be done on mirrors for a creative looking glass! Plus, we can create traditional stained glass and art glass overlay pieces for a different type of art glass that can also feature colors and bevels. Our designers are here to work with you to create your perfect, custom glass! Contact us today with what you are looking for!

Also, tomorrow is an amazing artist demo at Oak Gallery!

“In this presentation, Diana Shay Diehl will give a brief history of encaustic painting as she demonstrates some basic techniques in using encaustic medium to alter and enhance her photographic work. She will discuss substrates, tools, and important information regarding the safe handling of 150-200 degree melted materials and potentially toxic pigments. Participants should come away with a basic understanding and deeper appreciation of how to view encaustic works.

  • Encaustic, meaning “to burn in or fuse”, is an ancient painting medium first practiced by Greek artists as far back as the 5th century B.C. Its base is a natural beeswax with damar resins added to give it resiliency. Today, this technique in painting and preservation is gaining popularity again.”

Friday March 12, 2021 Update

All our St. Patrick’s Day decorations are out and we are loving the green! It’s nice to bring some cheer to the workplace and hopefully it brightens a clients day!

Our designers just started work on a stained glass piece, so look out for it in our social media. We have also had more clients getting textured glass for shelves, privacy for windows, showers, and for adding a little decoration with glass. Clear glass is the traditional standard, but if our clients want something a little different, why not jazz it up with a texture? Check out the textured glass link above for all our textured and privacy options for your space.

Friday December 11, 2020 Update

It’s a new week of shutdown, and things have quieted down in the Village. We are still available by phone, text, or email for your glass needs to keep your place safe and usable. We appreciate the people of Carlsbad working to stay safe, and there is hope on the horizon.

In the mean time, we are reorganizing the Shoppe (many things went to our lovely Bend, Oregon expansion which we talk about last week - found at https://www.instagram.com/stainedglassoverlaybend/ ) We will have different working spaces and storage which will keep our flow going when things open up again!

New Glass Fact: Glue Chip glass is made with a strong hide glue. The glue is mixed with water, warmed, and added to the surface of the glass. As it dries, it forms this unique, organic pattern that actually pulls up the surface of the glass, leaving the classic glue chip pattern. This is one of our many art glasses available (more can be seen by clicking here), that provides some privacy and obscurity to the outside.
